23. The Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13)

It is probably very clear by now that in his parables Jesus regularly contrasts either individuals or groups:

a day laborer and a rich merchant (Matt 13:44-46)

a younger and an older son (Luke 15:11-32)

a judge and a widow (Luke 18:1-8)

a Pharisee and a tax collector (Luke 18:10-14)

two temple officials and a Samaritan (Luke 10:30-35)

an obedient and a disobedient son (Matt 21:28-31)

a rich man and a poor man (Luke 16:19-31)

and here, five wise and five foolish bridesmaids (Matt 25:1-13)
